Description: Greek courtesan in a play by Terence. After giving Thais the gift of a slave, her lover Thraso asks Gnatho, an intermediary, whether Thais had sent her thanks. Gnatho gives an exaggerated response. Dante, following an error in his source, attributes the inflated response to Thais herself.
